The Mumbad Cycle – Part II: The Corporation

mumba-temple

The Mumbad Cycle’s Corporation cards depicted their varying agendas and struggles during the political shenanigans in Mumbad and gave us two new Coporation ID cards:

palana
Palana Foods
Remember the days when Jinteki were dirt poor? Those days are long gone, particularly now this card is in play. The Runner isn’t going to be avoiding drawing cards, especially against a deck where Snares and Shocks are everywhere and you can also force him or her to draw a card at the beginning of your turn with Palana Agroplex. Before you know it, you have all the money.

haris
Harishchandra Ent.
I haven’t seen this card in play yet and it may never replace Making News and NEH as the top tier yellow decks, but Harishchandra Ent. is certainly interesting and can be utitlised with many many cards and not just the Midseasons, Scorched combos that immediately come to mind. This deck is about using tags to gain knowledge. And knowledge is power.

Now let’s take a look at just a few of the highlights amongst the other Corporation cards in this cycle.

jeeves

Jeeves Model Bioroids
I think this is a well balanced card that is cheap to rez and expensive to trash, sure, but then the Corporation has to have it rezed in order to use it, meaning it often needs to be out on the table along with the agendas you want fast advance or rush out.

It is finding its uses in various decks as simply a distraction or a main fast advance tool. Once it’s out there the Runner cannot ignore it – despite the expense to trash.

bio

Bio-Ethics Association
Brilliant! This card forces the Runner to start checking remotes and against Jinteki, that can be bloody awful. Combine this with other deadly Jinteki cards and things can get ugly very fast.

But imagine it teamed with the likes of Scorched Earth too. Hit them with a net damage before landed that Sea Source trace and Scorched.

sensie

Sensie Actors Union
This card could prove invaluable when Jackson Howard rotates out of the game. It allows you to get to the cards you need quicker, but lessening the chances of agenda flood that come with other draw engines. Look for this to be utilised heavily in NEH decks and Runner’s should consider it a high value target when it arrives on the table.

mumba

Mumba Temple
This card is going to cost you 2 influence for each copy unless you want to risk having only 15 or fewer Ice in your deck. Either way, this card is super strong. A lot of economy cards don’t give you a good return for your investment unless the Runner leaves them uncontested for a few turns. Mumba Temple is paying off right from the get go and will save you bags of cash as the game goes longer.

museum

Museum of History
“Ban Museum” made its way onto a t-shirt. That’s how much people love this card! Actually, many people did love it and still do. It prolongs the game, churning the Corp’s cards back around – whether that be kill tools or economy – making the game into a sloggin war of attrition. THis is why many felt it sapped the fun out of the game and for a while it was all over the place in oversized Industrial Genomics builds.

Ultimately it has been given errata and made unique, which makes sense – How many Museums of History can there be in one place?

So that was the Mumbad Cycle – or at least the highlights that jumped out at me. Leave a comment with your favourite cards and join the conversation.

The Flashpoint Cycle is already underway – what have Fantasy Flight Games got in store for us next?
